Emergency Information for American Citizens

The American Citizens Services Unit (ACS) at U.S. Embassy Bangkok is open for appointments from Monday to Thursday. The embassy does not accept walk-ins for non-emergency services and is closed to the public on U.S. and Thailand public holidays.

Adult Passport Renewal by MailMost passport renewals for adults do not require an in-person appearance. You are eligible to renew your passport by mail. Passport processing times can take up to 4-6 weeks.
Applicants aged 16 and older who is holding 5 years valid passport must apply in person.
Minors age 0-15 and who is holding 5 years valid passport must apply in person.
You must replace your passport if you have reported it lost/stolen, even if you find it. If you arrive in Thailand with a lost/stolen passport, you will not be admitted into the country.
You can correct your passport if there is a data or printing error. A data error may include an issue with your name, gender, or place of birth. A printing error may include data that is missing on the biographical page, discoloration, or crooked printing. We will correct the error at no charge if the passport is still valid.
If you have been issued an emergency limited validity passport, you can replace it at no charge for a full validity passport by mail as long as it is not damaged and was issued less than one year ago.
Adult Passport Renewal by Mail

First Adult Passport (ages 16 and older)
Applicants aged 16 and older who is holding 5 years valid passport must apply in person.
Minors age 0-15 and who is holding 5 years valid passport must apply in person.
Adult Lost/Stolen Passport Replacement (Ages 16 and older)
