On behalf of the United States, I congratulate Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on her selection as Thailand’s next prime minister.  The United States looks forward to working with the Prime Minister to further strengthen the enduring alliance and partnership between the United States and Thailand.

With more than 190 years of shared history, the U.S.-Thai partnership is one of our oldest relationships in the world.  Whether by increasing mutual prosperity, partnering on peace and security, tackling global public health and human security challenges, or forging strong people-to-people ties, we look forward to continued close collaboration with the Prime Minister and her government to further advance our shared values and common interests in a free and open, connected, prosperous, secure, and resilient Indo-Pacific region.
