4 MINUTE READ

The International Academic Partnership Program in Thailand (IAPP Thailand) is a U.S. Embassy Bangkok initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), with the Institute of International Education (IIE) as the program implementer.

IAPP Thailand Overview

Leveraging the best practices, networks, and partnerships created and expanded under the first IAPP Thailand in 2024, IAPP Thailand 2025 is a nine-month program that will engage a diverse group of U.S. and Thai higher education institutions (HEIs) in a multi-faceted program guided by academic partnership experts and higher education leaders, with guidance on strategic planning for workforce development, public-private international education exchange program models, and mentoring focused on cultivating institutional partnerships in the areas of emerging technologies and STEM. These partnerships will be aimed at growing the IAPP sustainable framework for creating and expanding opportunities for the exchange of ideas, people, and resources.

IAPP Thailand Objective

Building on the success of previous collaborations, IAPP Thailand 2025 will engage U.S. and Thai higher education institutions (HEIs) in a dynamic program designed to expand academic partnerships in emerging technologies, STEM, and the digital economy. Through joint research, curriculum development, and faculty and student exchanges, the program will foster innovation and strengthen institutional ties. Participants will gain valuable insights into critical industries such as health tech, energy, AI, cybersecurity, and fintech, while exploring workforce development strategies—including the role of vocational education in addressing skills gaps. By facilitating collaboration between academia and industry, IAPP Thailand 2025 will help align education with evolving workforce needs and support the development of a talent pipeline for high-tech and digital economy sectors. The program will also broaden access to international education, engaging both IAPP alumni and new institutions—including vocational and community colleges—to create expanded opportunities in innovation and workforce readiness. Finally, IAPP Thailand 2025 will strengthen its alumni network, encouraging continued engagement and collaboration to sustain and expand these vital partnerships.
